Meal Kit Experience #4

We are currently using Home Chef to supplement our regular Sun Basket meals. We are on weekly auto ship meals for two: a dinner, a salad and a smoothie.

The Box Arrived on Time:

Home Chef packaging isn’t quite as earth friendly as Sun Basket; however, they are cheaper than Sun Basket. Each meal is packaged together in a clear bag.

For the most part the meals are good. We noticed that the dinners can take longer to cook than they indicate on the recipe cards. This could be due to the fact that some of the meals we’ve never made before. The food quality is average. Serving sizes are generous. I am able to conveniently customize each week’s menu via the Home Chef website or app. I can easily skip a week if desired.

Dinner, Lunch, Snack…

Our first dinner, Mojito Pork Chops was average. Our second dinner, Chili-Lime Salmon (pictured above) was VERY good! Home Chef salmon comes from the Atlantic, which is contrast to the Alaskan salmon we get from Sun Basket. The meal was served with chayotes. We never had roasted chayotes before. They are a kind of squash, yet reminded me of a melon as far as the cooked texture goes. They picked up the flavor of the onions they were cooked with, topped with cilantro and crumbled Cotija cheese – very flavorful. The Home Chef salads are quick to throw together; perfect for lunch. Our grandson’s love the Home Chef smoothies!

For now, we will continue to use Home Chef – until we find another Meal Kit Service we want to try for our Meal Time. If you’d like to try Home Chef, click here to get $30 off your FIRST order!

Until next time….
